During World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW), we implemented a nationwide initiative to strengthen public awareness on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) across Bangladesh. Our team designed, produced, and distributed standardized AMR awareness posters throughout the health system—from primary healthcare facilities to national institutions. The initiative was carried out under the direction of the Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Division, DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with financial and programmatic support from DAI Bangladesh.
Design and Distribution:The posters were developed in alignment with global WAAW messaging and national AMR priorities, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and practical relevance for healthcare workers, students, patients, and the general public. Materials were distributed to:
- All Upazila Health Complexes
- All District Hospitals
- All Medical Colleges
- Tertiary Care Hospitals
- DGHS, DGDA, DGHE, and other relevant government offices
- Both urban and remote areas were covered to ensure nationwide reach.
Impact: Healthcare facilities reported strong engagement, using the posters for patient education, counseling, and awareness-building on responsible antibiotic use.
We sincerely acknowledge:
- CDC Division, DGHS — for technical leadership
- DAI Bangladesh — for financial support
- Civil surgeons and healthcare professionals nationwide — for facilitating distribution
This coordinated effort contributed meaningfully to advancing national AMR awareness and One Health objectives.
